Thank You (Again)

And, here we are again, another Femdom Hunt is over. When we started work on the second hunt we wondered if it would be as well-received as the first. We wondered if we'd get stores and Femdoms involved again. We wondered if there'd be hunters willing to hunt again.

We needn't have worried. The response from all three was, and remains, heartening and encouraging. Because of this we'd like to round off TFH2 by saying thank you to all who took part. Thank you to the vendors who created some great gifts. Thank you to the Femdom locations who, not only made great gifts, but were kind enough, once again, to open their doors for the hunt. We'd also especially like to say thank you to the new Femdoms who joined us this time around -- it was great to have you join us. And, of course, we'd like to say a big thank you to all the hunters.

A huge thank you also goes to our helpers (Eve Terr, Reven Rosca and Vacy Mondalimare), who were our eyes and ears in the hunt group when we were either busy elsewhere, or simply away in RL. Your help was invaluable.

As with last time, in the next day or so we'll be clearing out the "Femdom Vendor" role (just the role, nobody will be removed from the group, of course). The group will remain, and everyone is welcome to remain in the group (if/when TFH3 is launched that'll be the first place invites will be posted so it goes without saying that vendors who stay in the group will get the chance to apply early). And, just like last time, this blog will remain. We'll leave the location list up too so you can always find the stores and Femdoms again.

And, now that the hunt is over, and there's no more hunting to be done, please consider leaving some feedback. It's a quick multiple-choice form, with the option to leave some text too if you wish. It's also totally anonymous if you wish. Your feedback really is useful to us.

And... that's it. Perhaps we'll see you again for TFH3. :-)

Possible shoe for TFH3?

In group chat there's been some mention of how it was tricky (hopefully in a good way) to find black shoes hidden on a black surface. So, we're thinking, for TFH3, glass slipper?

Goodness Gracious Goodness

We've just had a message from the owner of #62 -- Goodness Gracious telling us that a problem had been found with their gift. The problem has been fixed and the gift in the shoe has been updated.

If you have already hunted at this location you're invited to go back and pick up a fresh copy.

Many thanks to CreamyGoodness, the owner of Goodness Gracious, for fixing this and letting us know as soon as possible.

Second week hunt update

The hunt is now well into its second (and final) week and everything is going well. There are no known major problems with any of the locations.

Getting help

On the subject of problems: if you are out on the hunt, and you see something that you think might be a problem, please do let us know. The first port of call is, of course, the location list. If we are already aware of a problem and we're able to update the list, you'll find mention of it there. The second port of call is the hunt group. If a problem is known to the hunt there's a good chance someone will be able to help you with it, or at least let you know if it's a known problem.

However, if you raise a problem in the hunt group and don't get any help of feedback, please don't take it that "nobody cared" (as someone thought and said yesterday). If you don't get help with your problem it could be that none of the hunt organisers or helpers are currently online (or are busy helping someone already, or busy building). If that's the case then please don't hesitate to IM us, Antony Fairport or Zardia Avindar, directly. Our IMs go to email so if we're not online we'll get them anyway.

The hunt is still on

It might seem like a silly thing to say but please don't forget that the hunt is still running and going strong. There's still three whole days of hunting left, after today, so if you are a vendor or Femdom location, please consider reminding your customers and members that you're taking part and that there's lots of goodies to be had. And, hunters, don't forget to tell your friends.

Seeking feedback

As with the first hunt, we're very interested in what you have to say about how the hunt has been run. To this end we've created a feedback form. You're welcome to fill it on anonymously, or give your name -- the choice is yours and we're happy either way. We do very much appreciate your feedback so please consider filling it in. It'll only take a few minutes.

Midweek Update

The hunt is well into its first week now and, overall, things are going well. We've had a few glitches along the way but nothing too serious.

We're happy to report that we now have hints for every location in the hunt. If you find yourself at a location and no hint is showing on the hunt sign be sure to check http://bit.ly/TFH2Locations as the hint we have will be there. Also, if you run into any sort of problem with a location, be sure to look there too -- if we know of an issue at a location it will be noted there.

Those of you who have finished the hunt already might now be looking for another hunt to go on. If so you might like to take a look at The Whiz, from one of our helpers, Reven Rosca of PRIME.

Finally, we've had a special request from Dolome Demonia at Dolome Designs. We're told that there's been a huge problem with the group Builder's Brewery. Apparently they had over 16,000 members and, right now, the membership stands at 440. It seems that the group has suddenly "lost" most of its members. So, if you were a member, you might want to check that you still are. Either way, if you know of people who might have been a member, or you have access to other groups where it would be appropriate to mention this, you might like to pass this on.

PS: We've been searching blogs via Google, looking for mentions of the hunt, and listing them here on the blog. If you know of any mentions I've not found yet, or if you've written about the hunt and we're not aware of it, please do drop Antony Fairport a line and he'll update the blogged page.

Update of Mo Noel's gift

Mo Noel has just contacted us to let us know that she's found a bug with her gift. Those of you who have already found it, and tried it, will know what the bug is (turns out, it wasn't a devilish scheme to make life interesting for the RLV-using subs even though some of us thought it was).

Mo has now fixed the problem and has placed a new copy of the gift inside her shoe. She invites everyone who has already got a copy to come back and pick up a fresh one.

Also, although there was no need to, Mo would like to offer a little extra to everyone because of this issue. To quote a group notice from her:
Dear Customers,
find many of the most popular MoDesign products with great discount during the Femdom Hunt.

If you already found the hidden treasure at the MoDesign shop, please come again, as the prize had a bug (you get no menu). That bug is fixed now, so come in and start over!

Enjoy!
Mo.
In other words, back at her store, Mo has placed a discount on many of her most popular products (we're told up to 50% in some cases).

To get a fresh copy of the gift, and to have a look at the discounted items, just pop back to #25 -- MoDesign.

Thanks Mo. :)

Day Three Update

We're well into the third day of the hunt now and everything's still going well. Currently we're unaware of any major issues. As always, if you do notice anything that seems to be a problem, however small, please do let us know.

We'd also like to mention a couple of issues that have cropped up in the last day:

The first is the issue of people rezzing items at hunt locations. We do appreciate that sometimes people want to open gifts as soon as possible but we'd like to remind everyone that, just because a location allows rezz rights, it doesn't mean they wish to be used as a gift-opening sandbox. We know of at least once instance where someone rezzed out part of an outfit, that was well over 100 prims (approaching 200), and came close to using up the remaining prim allowance of the location. So, just a friendly, reminder, build "on" at a parcel doesn't mean that rezzing is always welcome. Please only use designated unpacking areas. If you really do need to unpack or adjust something (while it's rezzed out) really quickly, perhaps a quick trip to a sandbox is in order? Here's a list of some mature and adult sandboxes:

Adult:

Mature:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Builders%20Resource/111/9/23

The other issue is that of people finding decoy shoes. Some locations will have decoy objects out. These objects will be named the same as the gift. The objects might be copies of the shoe, or they might be other objects or even part of the location's building. These decoys are normally in locations you wouldn't find the actual gift using normal hint-following and camming techniques. Please understand that decoys are used with our blessing (personally we don't use them, but we understand why some locations prefer to) and, as far as we're aware, all are placed so that they could never be found by following the hint. If you are aware of one that is placed otherwise please do let us know.

Well into the second day

We're now well into the second day of the hunt and we're delighted to report that things are going well. The few issues we had on the first day were fairly minor and easily dealt with, and we'd like to thank all the hunters who reported issues to us so we could deal with them as soon as possible.

One reminder we would like to make is the issue of nudity on mature sims. For some stores full nudity can be an issue so, please, when out on the hunt, especially if you're heading to a location on a mature sim, please try and be wearing something to cover up the more interesting parts. Don't worry, there's plenty of adult locations that welcome (or even encourage) full nudity, just be sure to keep an eye on each the maturity rating of each location if you are running around the hunt naked.

Please note that for the next 24 hours Antony and Zardia's online time will be patchy due to RL. Please do send issues to us, via IM, if you have any. IMs are set to go to email so we'll know of the issue (and might be in a positon to deal with it). Also, please don't forget we've got a very helpful hunt group so joining that and taking part is a good idea.

Also note that we have three wonderful helpers who are watching out and keeping an eye on things and who will fordward us any problems. They are:
  • Eve Terr
  • Reven Rosca
  • Vacy Mondalimare (Vacquero Mondalimare)
If there is a serious issue regarding the hunt and Zardia and Antony are not online they will be able to help.

Finally, don't forget these helpful resources:
Have fun, and happy hunting. And, most of all, thank you so much for making this hunt what it is. :-)

Time to Eat

It's lunch time for Antony, and dinner time for Z... BBQ!

Keeping Z Safe

So Z went afk for dinner. Best keep her safe...

Current Known Issues

Here are the current (and past) known issues:
  1. The landmark in the shoe at #28, pointing to #29 (Lushish Catz), is wrong. If you use that LM you'll be ejected what what is now a private parcel. Please use this landmark instead. http://slurl.com/secondlife/High%20Sierra/241/218/24 -- We're working to get the shoe at #28 updated. Now fixed.
  2. #47 -- Succulent! -- aren't ready yet. If you reach #46 please skip to #48 until further notice. Now fixed. Succulent's gift is now available and ready to be hunted.
  3. #16 -- Campalicious! -- The shoes are not set for sale. We're contacted the store owner to let them know. Please skip to #17 for now and we'll announce when it's fixed so you can go back and get the gifts. Now fixed.
  4. #11 -- Thorns and Petals -- This store is a bit of a walk away from the landing point given by the landmark we were first given. We're looking to get this fixed in the shoe at #10 (the previous store). In the mean time please use this SLURL instead. This will take you to a landing point closer to the store and there is a hunt path laid down for you to follow. Also, note that there's two shoes here, rezzed as a pair -- if you buy from one and it is empty, try the other one...
  5. #73 -- Dolome Designs -- The gift doesn't appear to be out at the moment. Please skip to #74 for now and we'll let everyone know when it's fixed. Now fixed.
  6. When you find the gift at  #71 -- Dominant Images -- be sure to buy it my touching the toe end of the shoe. It seems that, by accident, a transparent prim is covering part of the shoe. We've let the location owner know of the issue. Now fixed.
This blog entry will be updated as issues are fixed or other issues crop up.

We'd also like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has been keeping us updated of what they've found. We really appreciate it.

The Hunt is On!

Finally, after a lot of planning and building by many people, the time is here. It's the 14th, The Femdom Hunt II has started! We're glad you could join us.

Now that you're setting out on the hunt we just wanted to remind everyone of the resources that are available to you:
Now for a serious moment: please remember, this is the first day of the hunt. The first few hours of any hunt almost always throw up a hurdle or two. The people who have made this hunt possible are spread out across many different timezones, and they all have a RL that demands their attention too. Because of this we ask that if you find a problem, if there's an issue, you let us know, skip to the next location, and pop back later. The latest news will always be available here on this blog and in the location list. We understand and appreciate that it can be frustrating (we love to go on hunts too), but any early problems will be fixed and we'll be letting people know when they are fixed.

Don't forget, there's a whole two weeks to get everything.

And, remember, the hunt group is a great place to report issues, find out about issues, seek help if you're stock or, of course, offer help to your fellow hunters.

It's also a great place to have a natter with the Femdom Hunt community too.

And, above all else, do remember: have fun. We are. ;-)

TFH2: Almost There

As of the time of writing there's a little under a day and a half to go until The Femdom Hunt II starts. Almost everything is done. Almost everything is in place. Hopefully everyone has their builds/creations/gifts all done and ready.

For the Femdom owners and vendors: by now most of you have v3.0 of the sign out, thank you. Now would be a great time to decide where you'll hide your gift and what your hint will be to point the hunters in the right direction. If you need help setting the hint inside the sign be sure to take a look at yesterday's blog entry. If you have any other issues with it please do feel free to contact Antony.

Remember that final walk-though is tomorrow, Thursday, Second Life time. We'll be doing the walk-though at some point during the day, there's no fixed time yet. All we're looking for this time is that you're still there and that your sign is out. Also, at this point in time, please take in the copy of the shoe you rezzed next to the sign for us. This isn't needed any more.

We're going to be posting hints on the online location list so, when you do decide your hint, could you please drop a copy of it on Antony? When you do so please be sure to include your location number so we can easily find you in the list and update it.

And, don't forget, we're very close now so now's a great time to be posting about the hunt to your groups if you have any, or posting about it on your blog if you have one. We've already had a great mention by Evelock and we'd love to hear of any other mentions.

For the hunters: You can find the rules and guidelines for the hunt here on this blog. Don't forget that there's an in-world group for the hunt too. If the first hunt is anything to go by it's a fun and chatty group (note that we welcome and encourage group chat -- please keep this in mind, it will often be a friendly and chatty group).

If you are wondering where to start the hunt: everyone is, of course, more than welcome to come start at Z&A Productions. However, this is a circular hunt and we want to encourage people to start at their favourite shop or "home" Femdom. You can find a list of all participating locations here on the blog. Note that when the hunt starts hints and landmarks will be included there.

As for when it starts... Friday. This Friday. Friday 14th. At midnight. Midnight on the start of this Friday. Second Life time. The first stroke of this Friday Second Life time.

Did we mention it's this Friday? ;-)

How To: Set the hint in your hunt sign

By now most of you have the v3.0 sign out and visible at your location (and for those who don't, if you could place it out as soon as possible, and let Antony know that you've done so, that'd be great). You've probably already noticed that the big difference between v2.0 and v3.0 is that there's some hover text that is designed to show the hint for your location.

At some point soon you'll be wanting to set your hint. What you set it to is, of course, up to you. You can make it nice and easy, or you can make it rather tricky. It really depends on just how hard you want to make it for the hunters who come to your location. No matter what you decide to do in that regard, you'll need to set the hint so that it shows on the board -- here's how to do it (please note that all instructions and illustrations are written with a 1.23 style viewer in mind -- in this case they were done with Phoenix; there will be differences if you are using Viewer 2.x, Viewer 3.x, or similar viewers):

Right click on the sign and select "Edit" from the menu. This will give you the usual edit dialog:

Now select the content tab in the edit dialog. You'll get a list of all the items that live inside the sign:

At the top of the list you should see a notecard called Hint. Double-click on this to open it so you can edit it:

At this point you want to delete the text that's in there (by default it says "All will be revealed by October 14th") and replace it with your hint. Please note that the hint can be multiple lines so, if you really do feel the urge to pen a poem or something similar, you can -- we'd advise not making the hint too long though.

Once you've made your change hit the Save button.

Once saved you can close the notecard. When you do you should find that the text you wrote in the notecard is now hovering above the shoe that is on the face of the sign.

Congratulations: the hint is set.

Second Walk Through Has Finished

The second walk through has now finished. We've visited every location in the hunt and checked for two things:
  1. Version 3.0 of the hunt sign was out and visible from your given landing point.
  2. A copy of your hunt object -- the shoe -- was rezzed nearby so we could check it.
Zardia dropped a notecard on the primary contact of every location. This notecard will tell you if everything was okay or, if not, what problem was found.

A good number of locations didn't have their shoe rezzed out. Just to be clear, so there's no confusion: we're not talking about the shoe that is attached to the hunt sign -- that's there so hunters know what they're looking for (it's also what displays your hint) -- we're talking about the object that you'll be placing your gift inside and then hiding, later this week. The object is named with your location number and your location name. For example, the shoe for Z&A Productions, which is location #1, is named like this:

TFH2 - #01 - Z&A Productions

If you had a notecard to say that your shoe was missing, please place a copy of it near your hunt sign as soon as possible and drop Antony Fairport a line to let him know it's out.

The main reason we do this is that it lets us visit your location and check that:
  1. We sent you the right object.
  2. We placed the right landmark inside it.
If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Sunday 9 October 2011

Reminder: Second Walk-Through is Tomorrow

Just a little reminder that the second walk-through is happening tomorrow. At some point during Monday (SL time) Zardia and Antony will be taking a walk through your location and they'll be looking for the following:
  1. Version 3.0 of the hunt sign on display at your landing point.
  2. Your hunt object (the shoe) rezzed out with the sign.
Please remember: you don't need to do anything with the shoe yet. Please don't go putting your hunt gift inside it, the hunt doesn't start until Friday. This is just our way of making sure that everyone got their shoe, that they still have it, that everyone got sent the right one and that the landmark inside it is correct and still working.

Please keep in mind that we're now less than a week away from the start of the hunt. If you have a group that is associated with your Femdom location or store, now might be a good time to start promoting the hunt. If you have a blog, now might be a good time to write about it there. If you know of any related groups or blogs that would welcome information on the hunt please feel free to pass them a copy of the publicity pack (if you lost your copy please let Antony Fairport or Zardia Avindar know and we'll drop you another copy -- a copy was included in the second update pack you were sent last Thursday).

Oh, yes, and now's a good time to be getting your build/creation done if you've not done so already. ;-)

As always, if you have any questions about the hunt, no matter how small or simple, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'll do everything we can to help.

Tuesday 4 October 2011

TFH2: What happens next

Now that the first update pack has gone out, and the first walk-through has taken place, we've had a couple of people ask questions about what will happen next in the hunt, how the gift will be packaged and hidden, who's responsible for what, etc... So, in the spirit of this post from the first Femdom Hunt, we'll outline what'll happen over the few days left until the hunt starts.

Before we get into that, we'd like to update everyone on another small change to the timetable. Because the first walk-through was push back a little, we're going to do the same with the second. Whereas it was going to take place this Friday (October 7th) it will now take place on Monday (October 10th). This will give everyone a little more time to get in-world after receiving their second update pack.

With that said, here's what'll happen over the next few days:
  • No later than this Friday you'll receive a second update pack from us. Please watch out for it and please let us know if you haven't received it. If you don't have it by Saturday, and we've not put out a note to say there's been a delay (there shouldn't be, but you know how SL and RL can be), let us know. This update pack will include v3.0 of the hunt sign (a version that will let you set and display your hint -- there will be a post later this week that details how you set the hint, it'll work the same as last time), your hunt object (a black shiny shoe -- this is the object your gift will be place in and which you'll hide), and some items that will help you publicise the hunt.
  • The hunt object (the shoe) will be pre-named for you and will have a landmark inside it. Please do not change either of these things. The name is set so that hunters can easily organise the folders they'll receive from your object when they hunt. The landmark inside the shoe is the landmark for the next location in the hunt after you (in TFH1 we had a couple of people "fix" the landmark because it was "wrong", doing this will break the chain of the hunt so, if you think there is a problem with the landmark, please contact us first).
  • On the 10th we'll be doing a second walk-through. We'll be expecting to see that you've replaced v2.0 of the hunt sign with v3.0. We will also be expecting to see the hunt object (the shoe) rezzed near the sign so we can see it. Do not put your gift inside it yet. We just want to see it so we can be sure that you've received it.
  • After that the next key date is October 13th, the evening before the hunt starts. By this time we require that you've built your gift and have placed it inside the hunt object. The hunt object itself should then be hidden at your location.
  • At midnight on October 15th (just to be clear, because it can cause confusion: we're talking about the midnight between the 13th and the 14th) the hunt starts. By this time your object should be set so that people can get their gift. More on this below.
We've had a couple of people ask about how the hunt item will be set to deliver the gift. The system we'll be using is the one that's used by the majority of grid-wide hunts, and the one that's easiest to handle: you'll set the hunt object to sell the contents and set the price to L$0 (actually, it should already be set that way when you receive it from us, but it's always good to check). Ideally you'll also set it so that a left-click will buy the object (again, when you receive it from us it should already be set that way). This way hunters just click on the object (or buy it from the pie menu) and their gift is handed to them.

This approach sometimes raises a few obvious questions so we'll try and answer them here:
  • Doesn't this mean that people can take multiple copies of my gift? Yes, it does. If your gift has no-transfer permissions (common for clothing and other worn items) this isn't an issue. For some it can be a concern if your item is no-copy/transfer. Most vendors handle this by, if possible, making the item no-copy/no-transfer. It should be said that, in a year of taking part in hunts, we've almost always used this system and have never seen anyone abuse it.
  • Can I use a touch-to-give script instead? One that tracks who has had a copy of my item? If you wish, yes. We won't be providing such script and we do ask that you let us know so we can note this in the location list (this helps stop hunters getting confused).
  • How can I see how many hunters have been through my location and got my gift if we don't use a script? Simply take a look at your transaction history in your Second Life dashboard.
  • Does this mean that people who aren't in the hunt can get my item? Yes, it does. However, it's worth noting that there isn't really such a thing as "in the hunt". Many hunters will do the whole hunt. Some might only do part of it. Some people might be at your location, shopping or visiting, and might stumble on the gift and take a copy. In the latter case that might mean that they either get to try your build and will like to come back for more, or they might not have known about the hunt and your contribution pulls them in and they join in. Either way, they'll be walking away with something that might pull them back to your location at a later date.
Hopefully the above answers most of your questions about how the hunt will start. As always, if you have any questions, no matter how small, please don't hesitate to ask us. Just IM or drop a notecard on Zardia Avindar, Antony Fairport or Vila Pixelmaid. We'll reply as soon as we possibly can.
